Novice points?

So with the new point structure in the last 2 years, I was wondering after looking at the points in my F III class which the new racers would be Novice 3 (I believe).
Our 2 new novices recieved points in our class. In the past you needed to have a expert license to recieve points.

Why is that confusing Chris..My question was do Novices recieve points in NV 3 when they grid with experts,,,NV 4 and NV 5 run with a Novice grid..In the past NV3 riders who grid with experts did not recieve points until the got a expert license...I say if they earn points in our regular classes and get points as a Novice, Just give em a Expert license right out of the gate. The whole point of earning your Expert license was to be able to earn points in the class you run with...Now I guess Novices who have run one race and are not Experts earn points...That means they have no respect of earning a expert license..So is that confusing Chris???

The answer to the orginal question is:

Novices earn class points is all classes, whether it be FII, NV4, 250 Vintage, or Middleweight Supersport. Novices are excluded from 600 SS and up, therefore have to run NV4/5. Those classes do NOT earn Clubman Championship points (NV4/5) since they compete exclusively against Novices,. The NV1/2/3 Novices, who compete against Experts, DO earn Clubman and Vintage Championship points.

This was apporved by the board and published in the original 2011 rulebook, but it couldn't be excecuted last season becasue we didn't set up the database prior to season starting. This year it was set up correctly.

Last year it was the subject of some board discussion and though there are valid reasons on both sides, it mostly received support by the membership (who have expressed an opinion).
