Anyone have any info on NRS schools for 2011?
Anyone have any info on NRS schools for 2011?
As far as I know Geoff, OMRRA is still working out the details, we should know soon. I know the board is doing one heck of a tuff job this year to make it work. GM meeting is next week so stand by for more details.
The board is still working on all of the details and have set some target dates to have everything schedule wise decided. We will have a NRS prior to the first racing weekend in April. Complete schedule coming soon.
When we get some info and an actual date for this Im wanting to make a flyer for this and I will pay the cost for this to be dropped off at every shop if possible, it would help us ALOT!!!

Maybe this is where I should pose my question:
Is a rider required to attend a NRS prior to riding in a novice event? If someone shows up in May without attending April's NRS do we turn them away? I'm asking because I've been trying to advise someone that's interested, but is often busy on spring weekends.

Isn't that what nrs is? For them to be eligible to enter into novice. Track days used for learning experience and omrra for that person who has that desire to be more then the track experience?

When I started you had to attend the NRS if it was available that weekend, but if you showed up on another weekend without having attended it you just practiced and gridded up and off you went. Then you had to attend the next NRS when it was made available.
I'm just asking - not trying to influence things one way or another....... just trying to figure out how to advise this guy.

my understanding is gotta pass nrs and check ride to enter the ring with the big dogs. We have usually had one before season starts in Oregon then one in the middle. But hopefully he can make it for that one day.

The First NRS of the Season will be Thursday April 21st.
More details are forthcoming.
To answer Alans question, you MUST have a license to race. NRS provides newcomers with a Novice racing license. OMRRA also recognizes other organizations licenses.
But just rolling in off of the street onto the racetrack wont work.
Riders may always petition the board, but without some evidence of experience, new riders will have to attend NRS.
Steve Suitor and I are the head novice instructors this year, so please direct your questions to either of us.
Thanks.

So for the people who can't make the OMRRA just go up to WMRRA and get your novice license if its easier![]()
