My niece just turned 9 or 12 or something like that. So I was wondering what the age limits are in the 85cc class, what bikes they are running and where do you get them?

Yes Nathan.the only change may be if the membership votes in the 12 and above rule, which would mean we would have a age limit at OMRRA which would mean you might have to wait till your kid is 12 to put your kid on a 600 call me crazy, but that only seems logical, But I'm in the Minoritiy. So if you where 1 to 100 yrs old you can still run the 85 class. Also note the rules have been modified to allow 93cc over bore and it will allow 150 4 stroke motors in that class. So get a bike and sign them up. If the age limit does not pass it won't be long until a parent throws a kid on a 600 or maybe even a bigger Bore bike. I'm not sure if I'm ready to see a 10 yr old on a GSXR, Well at least I won't be out there with them!

To me it only makes sense, because i can see a pre teen out there in the big classes in the next couple years, The club would still be ahead of almost any other clubs or other racing organizations in the country. If it passes we would still have the lowest age limit around.--- Homework-- Find a Club the size of ours on a BIG track that lets Preteens run racing events. I don't mean schools or track days or mini clubs. Real Big bike racing

I think you should be allowed a hundred ccs for every year you are old upto the age of 14.

What happens if a pre12 is running with USGPRU with a WERA license and comes to OMRRA? Sean has said that age isn't the final call on obtaining a WERA license. If a rider is a licensed WERA racer, one would think that USGPRU would bend on the 12 rule as it isn't a hard fast one either. They had a couple 11 year olds running with them last year.

What bike does your kid race Micheal? Do you have any info you could volunteer?

nathan

if you want info on the bikes to run in this class, they are GP chassis'ed Honda's or Yamaha's with your choice of 2- stroke 85 cc motor or now the 150 4 stroke motor.

check out this web site and the link page to get all the sites to look at.
www.amra.ca

I have a rs chassis with a 4 stroke motor for this year. but most of the bikes are 2 strokes. doesn't matter the year on the chassis 92 and up for the honda's and can't remember on the tz's. should be able to pick up a bike for under 4000.00 us.

any other questions just ask.

peter rides a 94 rs frame cr 85 motor.

The board also changed the rules on the chassis if I understood correctly so a MX chassis bike can run in the class if it uses zero rise clip-ons. Which would make this bike legal now: http://minigpx.com/news/article/?article=24797 The cost of entry for the 85 class just got lower.

Peter will not be campaigning a 125 until the '09 season if everything remains on the present path, and only then if he gets some more mass around his ribs.

When a preteen shows up to ride with GPRU at PIR they can run with GPRU. USGPRU runs under there own rules, that is why they can pick up a crashed bike and continue to ride---OMRRA riders can't per our rules, so if a preteen wants to run a OMRRA event while they are here with GPRU, then they must abide by our club rules to run a OMRRA event , which means if the age limit gets passed then a GPRU preteen can race their GPRU race, but will not be able to run our races per our club age rules. If it does not pass the riders will still need OMRRA approval to ride with us (OMRRA).:eek

Wouldn't an oil catch pan be required?

Peter will need Mass and a Bitchen set of Gene Simmons racing boots, actually he outta be just about the right size in 09 to open a can of wup ass in the 125 class, Mike M was smart to get out of the 125 class now. I'm a glutten for punishment, I'll end up sticking around long enough to get beat down like a old dog

Mike has seen the way of the SV. I'm sure you will too.

Come Rob, join SV Nation. You know you want to, everybody is doing it. (What am I saying, you only have 9.5 fingers and that's not SS legal)

$4,000 eh! Looks like I might have to just put her on my XR 100 with some knobbies and do some dirt track tires instead. Maybe I should discourage my kids from racing so I can afford it for myself haha!

Brian Ens

you can find them cheaper that is on the high end. an mx bike can be set up and bought for under 2500.00. that's only a few weekends for tires for you.:D the entry fee's are super cheap just getting the bike is the major cost and tires last a long time. but with the rules changing there are more options for what to ride.

I'm so broke I think I might have to make my own tires this year. Probably won't happen for her this year. She needs better fundamentals anyhow.

The cheapest racing with with NMRRA www.nwmini.net. Get an NSR50 for $1300 and then $50 for unlimited classes on Sunday. Have to be real secure in yourself to get on a bike with only 8HP :) or just put slick on that xr100
